Cloud Services- Models and Features by Luke Lonergan

Having my evening coffee, I browsed through some technical forums that discuss the features of the cloud services that are available in the market. There are different cloud services delivery models. The services are rendered in a private, public or a hybrid cloud is what they claim. After a lot of research I found these details and I believe you would benefit from it too!

Public Cloud

A public cloud is a service that is hosted and rendered via a public network of an organization and the service provider. Once a company uses a public cloud, it establishes a communication public network channel between the host organization’s network unit and the service provider’s network unit located elsewhere on the public domains.

For example  www.amazon.com is a public domain which is used for displaying all types of products online. The technology behind it includes file transfers, hosting pages, and other activities. Any user who has the keys to communicate to such a public cloud can interact with the system and upload the content via APIs (Application Programming Interface).  The visibility of such a system is high and is used by many customers globally. Any customer who wants to upload their products in this site is provided with a key specific to their business and they upload the content via the Amazon API.

Private Cloud

A private cloud is a restricted zone of network unit of an organization which is not accessible to anybody except the administrators of the firm. In such an environment a private networking tunnel is created between the host and the client environments and the keys are maintained privately between the hosts of these data centers.

A restricted administrator grants or revokes rights to access data or this network based on the needs of the organization. The security in this network is highly tight and the visibility of such a network is prevented from public.

Hybrid Cloud

A good combination of cloud services between the  provider and the client would be a Hybrid cloud where part of the clients network is a public domain that is available for access by public and the rest is a via a private cloud.

For example a dynamic portal of an organization that hosts its products needs to be on a public domain where customers can browse, select, place an order and purchase. However, the back-end of the same organization can be on a private cloud that needs an administrator to perform a data upload, change the settings of the portal, authorizing users to access the sites for drawing reports, providing dashboards to the business owners etc. Based on the business operation needed by a client, different types of cloud services can be purchased, used, and paid on the go.

So folks, if you are running a business that’s on cloud, you can match the kind of service your administrator is running for you. Keep yourself tuned to learn more about these fuzzy clouds. The flexibility of choosing the features needed for your businesses on the cloud is the success behind having one.
